9.6.11: To be like you, to be like me.

A band is many things as an entity. It’s equal parts love, with hate, tonic, and a pinch of volatile subtlety. From the outsiders perspective, there’s a sense of grandeur, but when you sift through the cracks and get inside, the intricacies can be overwhelming. It’s tough. It’s fun.

Four personalities. Four thousand ideas. Four history’s. With this, figuring out a unified direction can have it’s ups and downs. Funny thing is, once you think you’ve figured out what direction you’re moving, you blink, and you’re going somewhere else entirely.

It all starts individually you know? Each individual wanting something more from ourselves, more from the world that surrounds us. Add onto that, being young and restless, and you get forward momentum. Watch it as the aspirations take on a life of their own, and all of a sudden it’s not you. It’s everything around you. It’s sacrifice. It’s expectation. It’s perception. It’s peace of mind.

Things that go unsaid often have a violent potential, but you breathe, and try to find a way to explain. Yet, things needing to be heard will fall on deaf ears. Eventually. It’s in these times the trick is to find a way to grit your teeth, and sacrifice what you need for the greater good of something we all believe in. Channel it right? Take our own advice and use it as motivation? Certainly. Left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot, drop.

It can be so absurd 🙂

8.30.11: If you believe / If you belong…

Alright, alright, I know I haven’t been maintaining this as well as I could, but things have been pretty crazy lately. First and foremost: we’re returning to The Gothic Theatre September 3 w/ Deathbed Confession, Bullet Inc., Look! Our Hero, and The 4 Horseman. Same deal as last time w/ 21+ being comped and 16+ $9.50, doors open at 7. We’re psyched to be playing that stage again, we had such a blast the first time, so make sure you get your asses out there and check it! We have a powerful set prepared, so make sure you bring your voices and get ready to make noise!

Meanwhile we’ve been in the studio at Maximum Level Audio w/ recording engineer and producer Brian Knop recording our first E.P.. So far we’ve got the first track almost finished and will be recording 5 more tracks through September, so be sure to check back for updates from the studio. We’ll be releasing videos on the youtube, streaming live from stickam, putting photos up on facebook, and writing blogs, so there will be plenty of things to keep you entertained during the recording process. It’s been an awesome experience so far, and we’re psyched for you to hear a great quality E.P., we have yet to mix or master the first track, and it already sounds sick.

Now. While we’re doing our thing in the studio, we need your help to spread the word, and recruit for the ATP Army! Status updates, twitter updates, links, private messages, any of it and all of it. The only way we’ll grow, is if you help us grow, so if you have friends who like rock in general, have them take a listen to us! We have some really cool fan interaction stuff in the works that we’ll be throwing your way soon, be ready.

Also, in case you haven’t noticed, we now have a main website acting as kind of a headquarters for all things ATP related (www.athiefsplot.com). It’s still in it’s early stages, but we’ll be making tweaks along the way, to make an even better experience for you. Don’t forget, if you have any suggestions, please let us know, and we’ll see what we can do to get our shit together.

That’s about it, I’ll be sure write one of these at least once every two weeks from now on, but that’s what’s been happening in our world as of late. Stay classy.
